Aki Narula
Having worked as a stylist for various fashion shoots and ad campaigns, Narula has also designed costumes for theatre and a national award winning Bengali film and has also taken to designing lifestyle linen, candle stands and screens. After a commerce degree from St. Xaviers college, the designer started the AKI label in 1996 from Calcutta and worked with Lintas as a management trainee and was further moved to Arizona State University (USA) to pursue a course in communications. Aki Narula used to always add creations to all the clothes bought by his mother during school days and keeps on changing the collar, buttons, shorten length of sleeves etc. during college. In 2000, the designer participated in Lakme India Fashion Week and the response was overwhelming which led to an assignment of designing some costumes for 'Monsoon Wedding'. In February 2002, Aki was appointed as 'Design Director' at 'Sheetal Design Studio'. He designs for both men and women in the Indian and western wear. His designs are available at India`s premier design salons - Ensemble (Delhi, Mumbai), 1 MG Road, You Grasshopper, Ogaan (Delhi, Calcutta), Melange (Mumbai), Ffolio (Bangalore), Cinnamon (Bangalore), Sosas (Goa), Kali (Calcutta) Zingra in Cannes and St Tropez.
