Karuna & Shradha KhaitanIn 1994, the label had a fresh lease of life, with the advent of her daughter Shradha, who has learned the nuances of the fashion industry in London; whereas the mother-daughter duo artfully mixes the past with the present using hand-woven and handcrafted fabrics to create a totally modern look. The label is the brainchild of Karuna Khaitan and is the last isolated farmhouse in the avenue serenely tucked away in a remote suburb on the outskirts of Delhi, while it product ranges from western wear (camisoles, pants, jackets, shirts, tops, skirts, coats, and evening gowns), ethnic wear and a fusion line (knitwear suits, etc...). Karuna Khaitan exudes a certain aura: gentle yet awe-inspiring and had begun creating salwar kurtas, only the year before and because of their initial apprehension decided to do it on a small scale. She keeps in mind, the wearer and her lifestyle when she designs her clothes as the fabric tells you what it is to be made into. The mother-daughter duo has launched their western wear line after the return of Shradha from the London School of Fashion Studies. The label caters to women above the age of 25 in the high income group and is present in most up-market boutiques in India.
