Malini Agarwalla

The holder of Masters Degree in Management Studies (Finance), Malini Agarwalla has launched her label 'Malaga' with an aim to create handbags, footwear, belts and accessories for the contemporary women - to showcase the wealth of art and craft in the country and yet reflect international trends.

The aim was to find her way to the fashion hot spots in India and also around the world. However, today Malaga products are exported to many countries, while Malini has earned great acclaim at a number of international shows in Milan, Paris, London, and Dubai etc.

The designer sees a sea change in the market, while foreign brands coming to India have actually helped us grow and have increased people's awareness about accessories. However, only Indian designers can provide a certain Indian look with brocade, zardozi and jewels-and that too at a lesser price.

The company specialised in handcrafted bags of a wide range and design for women with both traditional and contemporary tastes, while rich embroidery, bead work and zardosi are interwoven with use of materials such as fibre, leather and various fabrics (silk, brocade, jute, linen, etc.) to create some exquisite pieces.

Malaga has a new winter/fall line of clutch and tote bags featuring an exquisite traditional line of batuas with kundan work brocades, etc.
