Sana Kayum

A multi faceted artist, Sana Kayum in New York has specialised in draping, fashion illustration, merchandising and nurtured her interest in evening wear and created the beautiful Millennium Crystal Bride, the theme for the final semester show in New York.

Earlier, the designer has progressed from basic training in designing at S.N.D.T (Mumbai) to F.I.T (New York). She has been a critic and lecturer at F.I.T for over 30 years and worked with students in the design studio program with her experience in many levels of creativity and the ability to realize the making and sewing of an original design.

Sana has worked rigorously for over two years, fine-tuning her skills at the production unit of Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla after gaining experience at an export house Neepa Fashions in Mumbai.

The millennium marked the beginning of Clothing Art – the fashion studio Appreciation of the designer by Mr.Anthony Muto, renowned fashion critic and judge of the fashion show at F.I.T, New York.

The western style clothing of the designer included draped blouses, gowns, skirts, pants, shirts etc in innovative cuts and finishes, sampled every season following international forecast trends.

Sana, by using new mediums for embellishing traditional techniques enhance originality has finely and intricately worked on pieces to give a fresher look to age-old techniques like bandhani, chikan, zardoze, gotta work etc.

The collections are retailed at Organ (New Delhi); Heritage (New Delhi); Studio Positive (New Delhi); Clothing Art – Fashion Studio Bombay Sukruti (Ahmedabad) and Elahe (Hyderabad).
