The Kolkata based fashion designer, Suman Nathwani is among the few daring women who’ve tried educating people on the importance of intimate wear and is arguably the only lingerie designer in India.

The designer, who lays special premium on comfort works with the finest fabrics, exquisite laces and embroideries to create irresistible dreams and fantasies in sleepwear

Suman while participating in Bridal Asia 2003, break free from lace and moved onto bold leathe with added surface texturing to nightwear with sensual touch. She has designed for the woman of today, a rich and sensuous line with a rich colour palette - of aqua blues, shades of cherry, fiery reds and flaming hues.

With Lucknowi embroidery chikankari for the sheer look and some of the thread work has European motifs, the collection in black and virginal whites - in the purest of lace done with delicate embroidery is quite stunning.

She has experimented with the corset look, and with prints to tone it down in georgette and satin – fabrics ideal for sleepwear and uses her constant favourite hues, red and black while designing collections that assures to be show stoppers.

The designer, who also designs swim wear, has worked on five themes ranging from innocent intimate series where the emphasis is on white to very sheer and lacy sensuous series in her collection.

The bridal wear line designed by Suman in her signature style consists of two-piece co-ordinates - the negligee and the Swarovski line, with beautiful embellishments and interesting designs.

Suman Nathwani, with her unique designing style was the first ever designer to display her sleepwear collection at the Lakme India Fashion Week in 2006.
