Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

The Chennai based graduate from the National Institute Of Fashion Technology (Chennai), Vivek Karunakaran has started working with Isex Fashions, Chennai as the Creative Head - putting together collections for various American and European labels.

The young designer has won the award for 'Best Constructed Collection' at NIFT when he graduated. He draws inspiration from his favourite things or just his state of mind at a particular moment and has launched Viia, his own range of menswear and womenswear for the domestic and international market in the fall of 2006.

The collection ensemble boasts of a new identity in a sense of perfection and uncomplicated simplicity and further jumped right into the Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW).

The designer feels that the strength of his garments is their clean silhouettes, which reveal complicated styling and intricate workmanship on closer inspection; whereas shuffling through piles of drawings, peppered with swatches of material and covered with neat notes and reminders, his designed shoes and handbags complement the outfits.

In spirit, if nothing more, each Viia ensemble boasts of a new identity in a sense of perfection and uncomplicated simplicity.
